Speakeasy Streets está de regreso con un nuevo lanzamiento, 'Brooklyn Cat Boogie', el seguimiento oficial de su innovador álbum debut de 2021, 'Back Alley Beats', lanzado en Maldito Records.

Las canciones fueron escritas y grabadas durante la pandemia, un proceso desafiante e inspirador para la banda. “La inspiración puede llegar de formas y momentos muy extraños”, recuerda el bajista y vocalista Yoni Benshlomo.

En su nuevo EP se escuchará la fusión característica de Speakeasy Streets de swing antiguo y hip hop bailable en 'Happy Days' y "Brooklyn Cats". La banda ha explorado nuevas direcciones musicales durante la pandemia, con canciones inspiradas en la chabola marina "Virus Pirates" y "Lonely Way", una melodía más dulce y sombría.

Mientras tanto, “Hypernovas” lleva el sonido por un camino más pesado. "Es importante mantenerse fresco y que tu sonido evolucione", dice el MC de la banda, Repitwa. "En estos últimos años desafiantes, sentimos la necesidad de seguir superando nuestros límites para mantener la cordura".

El nuevo EP presenta apariciones vocales invitadas del actor de Broadway ganador del premio Grammy, Etai Benson, y la leyenda callejera de Queens Smidge Malone en trompeta y voz. 'Brooklyn Cats' está dedicado a Arnon Benshlomo, el padre del miembro fundador Yoni Benshlomo, quien falleció en abril de 2020.

Speakeasy Streets are back with a brand new release, ‘Brooklyn Cat Boogie’ - the official follow- up to their innovative 2021 debut album, ‘Back Alley Beats,’ released on Maldito Records.

The songs were written and recorded during the pandemic, a process equally challenging and inspiring for the band. “Inspiration can come in very strange ways and times” recalls Upright Bass player and vocalist Yoni Benshlomo.

On his new EP you'll hear Speakeasy Streets' signature fusion of vintage swing and danceable hip hop on 'Happy Days' and 'Brooklyn Cats'. The band has explored new musical directions during the pandemic, with songs inspired by the sea shanty "Virus Pirates" and "Lonely Way" a sweeter, more somber tune.

Meanwhile, “Hypernovas” takes the sound down a heavier road. “It’s important to stay fresh and keep your sound evolving” says the band’s MC, Repitwa. “In these last few challenging years, we feel the need to keep pushing our boundaries in order to keep our sanity.”

The new EP features guest vocal appearances from Grammy Award-winning Broadway actor, Etai Benson, and Queens street legend Smidge Malone on Trumpet and vocals. ‘Brooklyn Cats’ is dedicated to Arnon Benshlomo - founding member Yoni Benshlomo’s father, who passed in April 2020.
